Ingredients:
4 - tomatoes
Tamarind, a small piece
1 tsp - salt
1 tsp - red chilli powder

1 tsp - mustard seeds
Asafoetida, a pinch
Oil for frying
Method
- Add the tomatoes in boiled water and cover with a lid.
- After 1 hour take out the tomatoes and peel the skin.
- Grind the tomatoes along with red chilli powder, salt, tamarind in a mixer to a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a pan, and add mustard seeds once the oil is hot.
- When the mustard seeds start to crackle, add the ground paste and fry over a low flame.
- When the mixture thickens and starts separating from the oil, remove from the flame.
- Mouth-watering tomato thokku is ready to serve with hot chapattis or curd rice.
